RECOMMENDATION: For the English horn tube to function optimally, I recommend a total length (English horn sleeve 27 mm) of 59–60 mm before cutting. Cut to 55–56 mm! Thanks to my many years of experience as an English hornist and oboist with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, I am able to pay particular attention to parameters such as wood selection, colour, texture and hardness when crafting English horn cane. The English horn cane are first sorted by diameter. The cane sticks are then split into three pieces and processed with a planing machine. The English horn cane are planed using an internal planer from Michel and Reeds n'Stuff. The planed wood for English horn is then sorted according to thickness and cut to size with a blank cutter. After shaping, the planed wood for English horn is tied onto sleeves from Guercio or Chiarugi. The tied-on pipes for English horns are finished on the external planing machines from ReedsnStuff and K.Ge Reeds. Finally, I briefly blow into the English horn pipes, refine them by hand and check their sound and functionality before they leave my Reeds for Oboe shop. As the quality of the wood varies depending on the season and region, I select a new type of wood for you every year. Please understand that the exact type and origin of the wood is confidential information. : http://www.reedsforoboes.de/video/
